During this time of year with Thanksgiving behind us and now into the Christmas season, I feel that I have so many things to be grateful for. Even though at times life takes me for a crazy ride being so extremely busy in school with tons of homework, I am able to stop for a moment and appreciate the many blessings I have in my life. I am so grateful for many things but I have listed a few:
Family-I am thankful for my amazing family! Family has always been a big deal growing up. My mom placed a major priority on the importance of family and now I truly believe the same way. Family is a little piece of heaven on earth. I am so greatly blessed for my family and my in-law family. They always brighten my day when I am able to hear how they are doing and all that is taking place in their lives. Especially with my family, they always make me laugh because of all of the memories growing up and the funny things that we say. We call it the "Hedding-isms." It is truly amazing the love that the family unit has for one another no matter what you choices you make. As I married into my in-law's family, I felt that they were my family all along! It is so great to be accepted with open arms. I am truly grateful for all of you!
Education-I am thankful for the ability to get an education! I am so greatly blessed to be at a university to where I can get my education for such a great deal. There are so many people out there in the world that would love to get an education but don't have the means or availability necessary to be able to do so.
Religion-I am SO grateful for the gospel in my life. I know that there is truth in every religion but I am so blessed to have the whole truth. It definitely brings peace and comfort to know the things that I do when I am having struggles in my life or just have questions. There is always an answer found within the gospel.
Husband- (You could probably guess this one was coming! ;)) I am SOOOO blessed to have such an amazing husband! He ALWAYS makes my days brighter. If I am having a down day, he knows how to make me smile with his weird phrases or funny facial expressions. He makes any grey day brighter. I never knew you could love someone so much! He is such a goof but he is my goof. ;)
Employment-Marc and I are so greatly blessed to have jobs that can take care of our needs and some of our wants. It amazes me how some of the married college students around here only have one (sometimes part time) job to support 2+ people! I don't see how anyone could do that. I see the strain that takes place because of the hard work that mostly the husband has because he has to work 40+ hours and go to school full time. Kudos to anyone who has to do that!
Health-I am a Child Development major and we talk about all of the many birth defects that can occur during the process of the creation of the child inside of the womb. An example would be something like conjoined twins, no legs, no arms, etc. I am so blessed to have a healthy functioning body! Also the fact that ALL of my family have great health as well! I feel for those that have health difficulties that they face on a daily basis. My heart goes out to you. I am no longer going to take this for granted.
These are just a small handful of big things I am grateful for but there are so many things that are small and simple. I challenge you all to take a step back as well and think of those things that you are grateful for. You just might surprise yourself at how much you are greatly blessed. Something that I was once told was, "What if you woke up and only had the things that you were thankful for from your prayers the night before?" This definitely puts it into perspective if you think about it that way.
May God bless you all during this Christmas season!
Love, The Turners
